VINEYARD
This wine comes from over 70 hectares of estate-owned vineyards in Viana, as well as from other contracted and controlled estates in the region. The vineyard is managed with a focus on quality, moderating production while aiming for a higher number of smaller grape clusters.
To achieve this, the vineyard has a high planting density (4,000 plants per hectare, with a 2.5 x 1-meter planting framework), low-vigor rootstocks, and trellis training with a high vegetation canopy. A complete drip irrigation system is installed and carefully controlled to ensure the harvest while maintaining a certain level of water stress.
PRODUCTION AND AGING
The wine is made from separately vinified, destemmed grapes. Alcoholic fermentation lasts for 7 days, followed by maceration with the skins for 5 days at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in barrels for 4 months.
COLOR
Bright and intense plum-red with violet hues.
AROMAS
Elegant on the nose, with licorice notes enhanced by barrel aging.
PALATE
Dark fruit flavors on the palate, with subtle tannins. Well-structured and very pleasant to drink.
