Rioja Vega GyG 2017 is appointed Best Rioja Joven (RRP under 10£) and receives a Gold Medal from the Rioja Masters awards.
In the extensive article “The Best Wines of the Rioja Masters 2018” published in The Drinks Business December Spain Report, the director of the tastings and Master of Wine, Patrick Schmitt, explains:
“Moving into the reds, once again Rioja Vega showed its ability to craft something of quality, without charging a huge sum. Its under-£10 joven Garnacha-Graciano was one of the few Golds at this price level”.
Rioja Masters tasting panel has awarded the centenary estate’s success history which has been producing terroir-driven wines since its very foundation in 1882. This premise has brought as a result excellent ratings and critics from the Rioja Masters for different Rioja Vega wines.
For example, Rioja Vega 135 Aniversario Reserva 2011 has been selected MASTER in the Vinos de Autor (RRP 30£-50£) category, the highest mark awarded by the judges, those wines that receive 95 points or over. Only nine references among hundreds submitted to the contest have attained this award.
Also Rioja Vega Crianza 2015 has been granted a Gold Medal, being placed among the five best Rioja Crianzas. Finally, Rioja Vega Colección Tempranillo Blanco 2017 has been selected Best White Wine from Rioja, with Gold Medal.
